I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
This afternoon a snowy egret came flying into the salt marsh (completely ignored by the larger great egret) he touched down, then proceeded to get all fluffed up about whatever the snowy issue du jour was.

That last photo is just amazing. Great captures.

It looks like he is landing on ice. Lucky for him that is not so. Beautiful photos, Phil. Those snowy feathers are something special.

He would really be surprised if he touched down on some ice! Yikes
Some of these guys are coming into breeding plumage now.

Stunning photograph. These are so hard to get these range of whites.

Thanks and yes that’s often the tough part, keeping some details in the white.

Perhaps they just know how cute they look all fluffed up like that?

They look more cute to us then some other egret that is getting picked on. 😃

Such a show-off! However – when you have plumage with that beautiful tracery (which you so cleverly show against the contrasting background, I note!) who can blame him?!

He likely does feel like throwing some of that plumage around just because he can. 😀

Geez, the extreme fluff. These guys could easily be cats – they seem to display the same behavioral characteristics! Really liked that stretch out for the landing, too. 🙂
