I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
We had one lone wood stork fly into the marsh yesterday afternoon. By summer there will be well over a hundred of these big birds in and around the marsh area.
If they summer with you, where do they spend the winter months? Really nice photo, Phil.
They are probably in Florida and the gulf area during winter. Glad you liked seeing Woody.
Beautiful shot, georgous bird, love your photography of nature at its best.
Thanks very much, I’m happy you like seeing the different marsh residents.
It looks like it’s using its wing feathers as a cape in a dance.
On these birds if the sunlight hits their wing feathers just right they get a colorful iridescence. Otherwise they just look black.
Bird dancer!
He is quite the talented stork! 🙂
Beautiful picture of the vanguard, Phil!
Thank you Maggie, I expect his friends will all start arriving in small groups at a time soon.
He’s so gorgeous! What a neat pose you captured. 🙂
Such a lovely capture. Almost demure
How graceful he looks – like he’s dancing on water.
