I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
I love the detail in these, Phil! To catch these, when the skimmer is so fast, is really something! We are off to Cornwall at the weekend, so I will be watching the terns in the harbour and thinking “How the devil does Phil catch these little birds at that speed?”! See you in a week or so!
You continue to amaze me, Phil, with your photos. The bird made a single pass and you absolutely nailed a sequence of shots with incredible detail and tack sharp focus. I honestly don’t know how you do it, but love the fact that you do (and share the results with us).

Have fun watching the terns and be careful. They have a way of making people dizzy trying to follow them. 🙂

Wow fantastic sequence. I love the last image.
Thanks so much I almost didn’t use that last one. 🙂

I would love to try photographing these sometime. Wonderful shot.

I can’t believe the coordinator these birds must have, very impressed! And your photos are super crips and clear, great shots!
Great captures. Love this
Great sequence and so cool to see this action. I’ve never seen a Skimmer….only in pics. Yours are wonderful!
