Evening, Upper Atmosphere Flight
As the setting sunlight was casting a rosy hue on the slightly overcast sky, I spotted a bald eagle very high up and out across the marsh.
Considering the lighting, I had little choice but to go with a silhouette on the eagle. Wish he was in closer but then again the sky made for a somewhat interesting canvas I thought.

Oh Phil, this is stunning! Perfect silhouette against that beautiful sky – love it!

In my experience, silhouettes work best when you can identify the subject by its shape–and this one works beautifully.

You are right, and at first I wasn’t sure about this one but then figured most everybody would pick it out as an eagle.
Thanks for looking Mike!

That is a great canvas and just enough of an open mouth to catch the outline of the beak. I like it.

I’m so glad you brought that up about the slightly open mouth. That’s exactly what convinced me to go with his photo.
I think that very small aspect makes the shot here and I’m happy you agree.

The colors in this are really nice. Like a watercolor, with his silhouette so striking against the sky.

I liked the muted sort of pastel colors too. Thanks very much for checking this out.
