Nap Time

Well our five pink visitors are still here and were found napping in the middle of the day (some life, who do they think they are? Alligators?!?) in the marsh this afternoon.

All was peaceful and quiet until one decided it was time to go and leapfrogged over his friend on the way out.

  2. Hey Phil,
Thanks for inviting me to come check out your latest adventures with the Spoonies. ;o) Great series and your documentation of the day’s events are always entertaining! I love your blog and have for a few years now, but I have been very busy this Summer and unfortunately haven’t been keeping up to date. Don’t give up on me, brother… like the Spoonies, I’ll eventually get back around to see you. Keep doin’ what you do, Mr. Lanoue.
    Take care,
    Mick

    • Well I know the spoonies do like and eat shrimp and there is lots of shrimp available for them to eat here. But I suspect they would be pink regardless of what they eat.
Plus, as they age their feather color becomes more bright and intense. Some develop crimson wing ‘drips’ which really stand out.
Of the five we have in the area now, three are juvies and are fairly pale pink and still with fluffy white heads. Later they will get the green ‘old man’ heads. Too bad they are not deep pink with white fluffy head feathers at the same time. 🙂
