You’re Leaving Me?!?
Well, I haven’t been over to the marsh in a couple of weeks so I figured I would look through my files from November and I found these GBH photos and I remember the day very well.
I just went over to the marsh that day for a short time and quickly saw this great blue heron standing in the salt marsh just kind of giving me the eye. Normally, they pay pretty much zero attention to me, but this guy must not have liked something about how I looked because he did an immediate jump off leaving me alone.
The heron left so abruptly that he practically jumped right out of my frame. As it was, I sill clipped his wing tips, but that shows how close he was.
Stunning action shots of this beautiful bird.
Thanks Charlie, the GBH is pretty much my all time favorite bird. Well…except when the spoonbills are around.
Great shots, Phil! Isn’t it amazing to be so close to these beauties?
I’m continually amazed by how often I can walk right up to one of these big birds. Just don’t ever want one really mad at me. 🙂
These are so beautiful. I love the sense of movement. All are interesting but I would be interested in a print of the first one. Dawne

Hi Dawne, thank you very much for looking at this post and I appreciate your very kind comments about my photos!
I just uploaded that blue heron image to my Fine Art America site so a print would be available through them.
Some folks are just unsociable.
And I’ve been so nice to them all summer. Ya just can’t win sometime.
Don’t you just hate it when they leave so rudely?
Some of these birds have no manners. Didn’t their parents teach them anything?!?
He’s a beautiful bird isn’t he.
I would call him a ‘pretty birdie’ but he doesn’t like that. 🙂
Awesome captures, Phil. The second shot is my favourite. 🙂
Thanks Sylvia, glad you liked the GBH pics! I liked the second one two but was disappointed I clipped off his wings in the third shot. But it could have been worse, I only got his feetsies by the fourth shot. 🙂
Not like a GBH to be camera-shy Phil!
Not for me anyway. Usually one will just ignore me, or… even act like it’s purpose;y posing for the camera. Only the alligators think as highly of themselves. 🙂
Beautiful shots and close ups, guess he cant wait to get further south either. Thanks Phil
Well many of these birds will be with us through the winter. The bald eagles certainly will be. 🙂
