Everybody Gets One!
Recently we were watching a great egret and a great blue heron doing a little evening fishing in the salt marsh among the the oyster beds. For once there was no fussing and fighting for who gets the biggest and best fish because there seemed to be enough for everybody. Each of them managed to grab a nice fish dinner which they were able to happily enjoy in casual comfort!

Fabulous captures!

Usually, the great blue is the bully in the group and will take an egret’s fish but this time everybody came out happy I think! 🙂
Also looks like the heron might have nicked an artery on that capture. 😯

I wondered how the fish could get down that long thin neck in the shot I caught of our great egret. Apparently what I had was the stretched out version. Great to see these guys catching their dinners. I did snap a cormorant with a fish bulging out the throat. It’s amazing how they do that.

Well it is good to see these guys working for a living. Especially the GBH who is more then happy to let the egret do the work and then take his fish.

Muchas gracias! Los pájaros saben que estoy allí, pero que no tienen miedo de mí. Ellos me conocen.

Maybe you have organized the marsh and made them all get along. Except for the fish of course.

Yes the fish always seem to get the worst part of the deal. Even when everyone else is happy the fish have nothing to look forward to.
