Everybody Gets One!
Recently we were watching a great egret and a great blue heron doing a little evening fishing in the salt marsh among the the oyster beds. For once there was no fussing and fighting for who gets the biggest and best fish because there seemed to beΒ enough for everybody. Each of them managed to grab a nice fish dinner which they were able to happily enjoy in casual comfort!

Fabulous captures!
Thanks very much, glad you like them!
Those are nice fat fish they both had for dinner. π You’re always in the right place at the right time, Phil. π
They were pretty good size fish. π Thanks for looking!
Fresh fish! what a fabulous dinner π
I’m sure they were quite thrilled with the evening’s menu! π
Oh Good I’m glad to see the Great Blue Heron has a nice meal as well as the Egret!
Usually, the great blue is the bully in the group and will take an egret’s fish but this time everybody came out happy I think! π
Also looks like the heron might have nicked an artery on that capture. π―
Great pics. Hope they enjoyed their meal.
Thanks! It sure looked like they did enjoy their fish dinners.
I wondered how the fish could get down that long thin neck in the shot I caught of our great egret. Apparently what I had was the stretched out version. Great to see these guys catching their dinners. I did snap a cormorant with a fish bulging out the throat. It’s amazing how they do that.
Well it is good to see these guys working for a living. Especially the GBH who is more then happy to let the egret do the work and then take his fish.
stunning
Thanks very much!
Sharing the wealth. Beautiful Phil!
*Sometimes* they can get along. π
When everybody is catching fish then all is right with the world. π
Thanks for your kind comment!
Beautiful photos! You sure feed your birds well!
Oh yeah we all eat great here at the marsh!
Thanks for looking Molly! π
Maybe you have organized the marsh and made them all get along. Except for the fish of course.
Yes the fish always seem to get the worst part of the deal. Even when everyone else is happy the fish have nothing to look forward to.
Sushi and Sashimi!! Can’t get any fresher fish than that!
Great shots!
Oh it’s plenty fresh alright! Thanks much!
