Many Thanks To All…

I wanted to thank all the wonderful people who have made caring, and supportive comments about my mom’s recent fall and injuries.

My wife and I appreciate all your kind words greatly.

Mom is still experiencing some pain and doing about as well as can be expected. Unfortunately, compounding the situation is that she resides in an assisted living facility for Alzheimer’s residents. This means she is unable to help contribute toward her recovery in the same ways most of us would be able to. However, her doctor feels confident that her injuries will heal and that she will be up and moving around in a couple of weeks. The accident certainly could have been worse and we remain positive and optomistic that she will make a complete recovery.

Today was the first day we had a chance to get out and enjoy a beautiful day on the marsh. We saw many wonderful birds such as bald eagles, great blue herons, white ibis, wood storks, cormorants, merganser ducks, kingfishers, and this great egret pictured here who was taking off from the marsh pond back lit by late afternoon sun.

  1. So happy to hear your Mother is doing well. We were all very concerned!
You could not have staged a better shot on the Egrets! Beautiful capture!

  2. I’ve been eagerly awaiting an update on your mom’s condition. So sorry to hear about the complications, but keeping a positive attitude is the only way to help her get through this. Wishing her all the best for a full recovery in record time. I’m sure she’s in very good hands. It must have been wonderful for you to get out on the marsh again, and what a treat your photos are. That Great Egret was obviously determined to be the star of the show. 🙂

    • Great hearing from you Sylvia and I so appreciate your kindness and concern. Yes mom is in good hands and we are feeling confident that she will progress with her recovery.
It sure was nice to get out today and we had a good day out in the marsh. No alligators though 😦 but we saw some good bird action and had fun. It was a terrific opportunity to take our minds off everything else. 🙂

  3. Glad to here Mum is on the mend – takes time to recover at that stage of life.

Well from recollection (bare in mind I haven’t seen all your portfolio) this is my favourite sequence and best individual (the first) – utterly mindblowing – stunning made by the contrast against the darker backdrop. Gold Star

  4. Glad you were able to get out and see those wonderful birds. Hope your mom is okay and I will be thinking of you on your journey with her. I spent the last three years of my mom’s life taking care of her with her Alzheimers. It was tough in the end but I wouldn’t trade those years for anything.

    • Thank you Dina for you kind thoughts and concern. We were glad to get out for a bit of wildlife viewing which helped tremendously.
I know, it is tough dealing with a parent or other loved one in this type of situation. We just try to get through as best we can.

  5. Was not aware of the difficulties in your real life, my thoughts and prayers are for your Mother’s situation to improve. These are stunning photos! Take care and good luck to you and your wife and of course your Mother.

    • Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers going out to us at this difficult time!
I am also happy you enjoyed these egret photos. Your comments mean a lot to us. 🙂

  6. It’s so good to hear that your mum is making good progress. I can’t help but think these two stupendous shots are symbolic of her rise from adversity. Wishing you and yours all the very best!

    • Hi Gunta, it’s funny we were thinking the same thing about those photos and the possible relationship between them and my mum’s recovery. I took many other photos yesterday but these in particular seemed to ‘sing’.
      Thanks for the wishes!

  7. Oh, gosh Phil and Alyce…somehow I missed seeing about your Mom’s fall. I’m so sorry to hear this and send good wishes for her recovery. If there is anything we can do for you guys, please let us know.

  8. oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear what happened. It’s a very special situation when the patient can’t cooperate, but she and you are obviously coping well, so that’s good news after all. Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery.
    Best regards,
    Hanne

  9. So glad your mom is doing better! I can’t get over how beautiful this bird is. The “architecture” of this bird just shines through. Again, as always, thanks for what you give us.

  10. Those light feathery wings remind me of an Angel. Our bird friends really are a little closer to heaven, aren’t they? Glad your mom is doing better and praying she keeps getting better.

  11. Phil, I’m sorry I’ve missed you the last week or so – and the news about your poor mother’s fall. What a glorious way to celebrate the beginning of her recovery process with these two magnificent shots. Really, exquisite. The lighting, of course helps, but as always, you’ve captured the bird in moments of such power and beauty the photographs take my breath away.

  12. Dear Phil, sorry that I learned now, but I am so glad to hear that your mother is fine. I can feel how difficult for her these days. My best wishes for your mother.

These photographs captured me again… how beautiful, how amazing.

Thank you, Blessing and Happiness to you with your family, love, nia

    • Yes then you certainly do understand the challenges we are facing. Essentially my mom is unable to activily participate in her own recovery and rehab. But we continue on as best we can for all involved.
Thanks as always for you very kind comments on my photos and I wish you and your mom the best.
