“This Oyster Bed Isn’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us!”
Monday afternoon we were watching a snowy egret minding it’s own business fishing around the oyster beds in the salt marsh during low tide.
But an arriving snowy must have decided that this was HIS oyster bed and would permit no other occupants, so he rudely sent off his friend. The displaced snowy took it all in stride however. So it goes in snowy egret world…some days you chase, other days you get chased.

I’m sure I wouldn’t take off in such a graceful manner, if someone was angrily chasing me, and shouting abuse, as Snowy looks to be doing. 😀
Yes normally when two snowys have a disagreement (which is almost always) they get all fluffed up and make a huge fuss out of the whole situation. This guy here though just calmly took off as if to say…”fine, you want this spot you can have it.” Unusual for snowys.
He obviously had a lot of class. 😀
Oh he’s plenty classy alright.
So I guess he decided not to ‘ruffle any feathers’. Ha ha get it?! Ruffle any Feathers!! 😆

I love these battles that you catch though you seem to have a loose definition of friend.
I’m glad you enjoy seeing the photos of these feathered gladiators. Although they are more like a couple of parakeets squawking at each other.
And ha, I see you caught that ‘friend’ part. I always call them friends for some reason even when fighting.
Same goes for the alligators…”Uh oh, that gator just tried to bite off his friend’s head!”

It is funny how they often insist on taking another guy’s spot. There can be two birds in a whole big marsh but one will still chase the other one off. Happens all the time, we think it’s hysterical! 😀
Hey, everyone knows you don’t mess with the dude sporting a mohawk. I think his nickname is Spike in those parts. Spike is like the Honey Badger of the Oyster bed. Lol.
