You Never Know What May Happen On Christmas…
Yesterday afternoon we went over to check out the marsh to see who might be out enjoying their Christmas.
It was bleak and grey by the time we arrived and we quickly saw this great blue heron looking quite dignified standing in the salt marsh.
The surprise turned out to be how the heron’s reflection appeared in the water. Some Christmas magic perhaps?!
Very nice Phil.
Thanks Jan, I’m a little bored here today and found myself fooling around just a bit.
Fantastic Phil. The reflection is incredible.
Well I really appreciate that Edith, but this is basically what happens when I have too much time on my hands. 😉 😀
Definitely a magical shot,Phil. He does indeed look very majestic. 🎄🎆
He does look rather nicely put together doesn’t he? 😀 Thanks Sylvia for looking at this fun image.
Okay now,, that is pretty darn cool!!!
Hey glad you liked that Sally!! I was just goofin’ around. 🙂
Oh! That is magical. Guess he was doing the Christmas wave. 🙂
I believe you are correct about the Christmas Wave! Sounds good! 😀
Nice effect Phil. A beautiful bird.
Well I’m happy you enjoyed it but now you see what happens when I get juuuust a bit too much free time. 🙂
Muy bonito Phill, original y curioso efecto, abrazos
Muchas gracias. Es sólo un efecto divertido.
You had already a drink before you went outside? Funny animation – beautiful sharp picture.
I had many drinks. Or at least I think I did. 😉 😀 I’m happy you like the animation!
Very cool!
It’s very something, heh heh, thanks for checking this out Gareth!
Cool. 🙂
Well I appreciate you checking this out Sid. 🙂
Very magical indeed! Merry Christmas and happy new year Phil! Robyn
Very magical or very goofy, I’m not sure which. 😉
Thanks Robyn and Merry Christmas!
A perfect reflection Phil ! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day and still enjoying this holiday week.
Well this just goes to show what happens when I have too much time on my hands. 😀
Thanks Emily, we are having a very nice week so far. A bald eagle flew right over my head at the marsh today as did a group of white pelicans so this week is going OK enough for sure!
Hope you had an outstanding Christmas but after reading about your gift I’m thinking you really did. 😉
I like it! And Merry Christmas to you a bit late.
Hey glad you like it CM! I maybe have a bit too much free time, heh heh.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
That is wicked!
Thanks much Jen, glad you like it!
Way too cool! And very creative.
Thank you Dina, I’m just having a bit of fun here! 😀
about the best reflection i have seen for quite a while did you get some fancy new software for xmas?
I’m happy you enjoyed my animated reflectiont. No new software, just a site that produces some unusual effects for photos. 🙂
cool another one like lunapic i love those sites
Fantastic photo. Thanks for the entertainment.
I’m happy you enjoyed it, thanks for looking!
Great shot!!! Reflection effect is mind-blowing!!! Great work !!!
Hey thanks very much! I’m really happy you like the reflection effect! I wasn’t sure about it but glad I did end up posting it. 🙂
Magical and goofy, indeed! I’m so glad (and impressed) that you had so much time on your hands! It made me smile…. (and nary an alligator is sight)
Thanks a million Gunta, glad you liked my fun, goofy effect. 🙂
But you are right, no alligators in sight. Humm…now I have something to shoot for (so to speak) this Spring, a bird and alligator together with animated reflections. But why wait for Spring?!? Maybe I have something already in my files?! 😀
Phil, this has kept my grandad mesmerised! Hope you’re having a happy holiday
Well I’m thrilled your grandfather enjoyed this, thanks to you both.
Hope you have a great week and excellent New Year!
Dig it! 🙂
Thanks Bob, appreciate you looking!
Hey Phil – photographer, animator, what next, i ask? Though frankly, that magnificent bird needs little embellishment to reinforce its beauty!!! 🙂
Well I truly appreciate your very kind comments, thanks so much!
He is a good looking bird isn’t he? 🙂
I think he’s my favourite, Phil – i must have a thing for ‘grey’ animals because adore grey cats too 🙂
The GBH is probably my favorite bird. Whenever they are around you can almost guarantee something will happen.
Although mostly grey, if you get a minute check out this one from back in Oct. It has some snazzy orange accent trim. 🙂

We had an all grey cat going back 20 years now. Good kitty.
Ah, yes, I remember that fellow! i also remember the bird with the wonderful rusty red pantaloons and the fabulous rusty markings on the chest and the leading edges of his wings – I think they’re extraordinarily handsome birds and I’m delighted to hear you say that something’s always likely to happen when you spot one in the marsh!
Very magical! And, the animation, Wow!
So glad you enjoyed this pic Amy!
There’s not a darned thing wrong with have a few drinks or a lot of fun! I did that ripple effect a couple of times, and now I can’t remember where I found it or how I did it – but just like you, I was “messing around”. I’ll say this – the effect is as perfect here as I’ve ever seen. Very nicely done, and a nice model!
Thank you very much for looking and commenting on my little special effect. 🙂
I really appreciate you looking and commenting.
I’m enjoying a beer and having fun right now in fact! 😀
Ah, I looooove it! Really lovely. 🙂
I was just having a bit of fun but I’m happy it worked out and that you like it! 😀
My reaction when I saw this: are my eyes fooling me??? This is sooooo cool!! 🙂
Hey wow, I’m so glad you liked this animation of the heron! 😀
Fascinated me… you are great photographer and artist. Thanks and Love, nia
