“Nice Catch Pal!”
It was a grey and gloomy morning at the marsh pond today but there were quite a few birds out looking for breakfast. At one point a great blue heron flew low over the water and just at that moment a cormorant surfaced with a fresh caught fish. The heron, who seemed to be impressed and possibly a bit envious by his friend’s catch, gave it an admiring glance on his way by.
Scatti stupendi, non te ne sfugge mai uno 🙂
Ciao, Pat
Grazie Pat. Cerco di essere fuori per ottenere foto il più possibile.
Splendid catch, both for you and the heron!
Thanks very much Hans!
Excellent catch, Phil!
Thanks very much for looking Gracie!
Nice catch, Phil. 🙂
Heh heh, thanks Steve. 🙂
Some time in the future I see you posting whole dialogues between your birds 🙂 Have you ever thought of that? 🙂 Marvelous catch 😀
Oh I talk for them all the time out there. Stories, conversations, comments of all types. They don’t realize how much they talk. 🙂
Nice that he isn’t jealous! 😉
It thought that was nice too! 🙂
Nice of the heron not to swoop down for the “fly by” grab. I like the double action shots, Phil.
That heron was being nice to his little cormorant friend by not trying to take away it’s fish. Thanks I’m glad you liked these shots.
I’d say you got the better catch!
Thanks very much! I was pleasantly surprised to see the cormorant’s catch under the GBH fly by for sure!
I love the way the blue of the beautiful heron is echoed in the water. Such lovely pictures, Phil!
Thank you Maggie, I’m always happy to see my friend the GBH in action at any time.
WOW!!!!
Thanks so much for checking these out Erv!
Can’t believe how that huge bird is almost completely submerged!
The cormorants are water birds and will dive completely under to get fish. Then of course they have to dry off. 🙂
Yes you have shown them before! YAY
Beautiful! And to get both of them in one shot is thrilling!
Thanks, I was happy to see the cormorant head pop up under the GBH!
Great captures, Phil. Yes the heron does look slightly envious, but at least he didn’t swoop down and steal it. 🙂
It was rather sporting of the ole GBH to continue to fly on and not try to pester the cormorant for it’s fish. But cormorants are fast gulpers so maybe the heron knew it had little chance anyway. 🙂
That first shot is an unbelievable catch – which if you tried to replicate you try for ever and a day
You are right Scott, if I thought in advance I would like to try to get this shot it wouldn’t happen.
