No Escargot Today…Thanks
Two days ago I was watching this white ibis feeding in the salt marsh during low tide. At one point he pulled out a snail but apparently was not in the mood for an escargot appetizer because he promptly dropped the unwanted mollusk right back into the water. I guess it must have needed garlic!
Beautiful shots.
Thank you Jan.
I don’t blame him. A snail has never passed my lips either, garlic or no garlic. 🙂 Great colour and reflections, Phil.
Well that’s exactly what I was going to say so … well said!
Well I don’t blame the little guy because I agree, never ate one, never will.
I’ll just add ditto to Lyle and Sylvia. 😉
I’m with you there Sylvia, no snails for me either. Glad you liked the pics.
Non ha tutti i torti 🙂
Bellissimi scatti Phil. Ciao, Pat
Lui sa quello che sta facendo! 🙂
Grazie Pat
He almost looks sleepy. I wonder how sensitive their bills must be to feel the shell so far up. It’s all very interesting. Love the colors, and the reflection.
I think those long curved bills are very sensitive. When you see one feeling around in the mud and then coming up with a catch you know they can likely feel very small things.
Getting nipped by a crab can’t be fun either for the ibis.
That does not sound like fun at all for the ibis!
Lucky snail! Beautiful white ibis. I never realized the brightness in their blue eyes. Fabulous photos!
They do have very nice blue eyes!
I’d toss that nasty snail too. 😮
Such beautiful light and reflections, Phil! Definitely no snails for me, either!
Thanks very much Maggie and OK good, another vote for no snails! 😀
I am with him, no snails for me either. He even has it worse, having to swallow the shell too.
Oh yeah that’s right I didn’t think of that, he does eat the whole thing shell and all. Well better the ibis then me. 🙂
Great set Phil!! I also belong in the “No snails for me” category.
I think it’s unanimous, this is a no snail zone except for the ibis. 🙂
