Foggy Day At The Marsh

The fog rolled in thick off the ocean this afternoon and quickly shrouded the marsh pond in a misty haze. The fog didn’t stop our alligator buddy from parking himself along the edge of the pond and hoping the sun would pop back out.

The first three pictures I took with a cell phone camera, but I used the telephoto for the close up shot of our unhappy friend who never got to enjoy any sunshine today.

In the second picture you can barely see that there is another alligator laying on a small piece of land out in the pond.

    • I’ll tell you what is eerie though… We have been out in the swamp on a foggy morning and heard an alligator bellowing somewhere off in the mist. Then another one answers that. Then another. We heard six at one time very close and all around us but couldn’t see a single one.

  1. Erm, Mr. A does *not* look thrilled by this weather/fog. That is really close, and glad he didn’t decide to do a super fast army crawl to wherever you were standing! They could almost be chameleons, I think. Can’t believe how “gray” he looks on the bank in that 3rd shot.

    • Oh he is most definitely not at all thrilled with the grey foggy weather, he was hoping for a hot sunny day.
That third overall shot was just taken with a cell phone so you kind of get what you get there.
The close up was more how he really appears in terms of color.

    • Here is something even more spooky Maggie. We have been out in the swamp on a foggy morning and heard an alligator bellowing somewhere off in the mist. Then another one answers that. Then another. We heard six at one time very close and all around us but couldn’t see a single one. 😮

He will be very happy moving forward though, it’s going to be warm and sunny all week.
