Yikes!

This fish looks more than a little startled to suddenly find itself in this predicament…speared on the end of an anhinga’s sharp bill as it pops up out of the marsh!

    I’m not surprised, Sylvia… but look at it this way- your poor little fishy had to be eating other (perhaps smaller) fishies to stay alive. It’s all a part of the life cycle. But we probably agree that being served a fish with the head and eyes intact can be a bit hard to take. 😮

        Well I have good news and bad news.
        The good news is I got some shots of a cute little green heron in the marsh yesterday evening!
        The bad news is he was…you guessed it…fishing. And he was quite good at it too. I expect sad little fishie faces may be involved.
        Humm… There was also a very cute young alligator out there that ended up taking a walk. 🙂

  This has been an odd season so far not just for spoonbills but everything. Wood Storks were late, and other birds are just not showing up.
  We had four spoonbills show up right on time on June 29. But…they left the next day and no spoonies have been seen since. I’m still hoping.
