Tasty, But Not Particularly Satisfying
This past week I was watching a tricolored heron fishing in the salt marsh. At one point he caught and quickly knocked back a small fish.
At first he looked quite happy to have this tiny, tasty snack. But in the last photo I thought he had kind of a disappointed look on his face, as if he was thinking… “Is that it?”
Well, it was only a little one ……….!
Yes, just a little one this time. π
Yeah that’s the trouble with small snacks. I like big ones!
If you are going to have a snack it might as well be a nice big one! Snacks are not the place to cheap out.
It’s so small for him. He has a larger tummy and probably went off looking for more! His expression in the last photo — very sweet.
They are cute birds and he did indeed fly off to find better and bigger snacks elsewhere. π
Sicuramente desiderava un pesce piΓΉ grande. Ottimi scatti, bellissimi!!
Ciao, Pat
Grazie! He will be back for bigger fish snacks!
Reminds me of that old Peggy Lee song, ‘Is that all there is’. π Mr Tricolored Heron does look somewhat disillusioned, but the little fish, even more so. Nice shots, Phil.
I suppose that little fish was having a worse day then the disappointed Tri. So I guess things could always be worse.
Love the sequence.
Thanks a bunch Pat.
It is a special sequence; you might want pass on that with just a little preparation fish can be quite tasty.
Sometimes it’s all in the perpetration that can make a small size meal big in taste! Thanks Charlie!
