Coming In Fast And Low
Earlier this month I spotted this osprey on a rapid descent toward the salt marsh coming in just above the reeds.
These birds have a perfect aerodynamic body shape for their style of hunting.
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.

As you say, Phil……perfect. Great capture. 🙂

Thank you Sylvia, I was hoping it might be interesting to see a somewhat different view then the standard flying overhead look. Plus the sun looks good on his back. 🙂

I think he would approve of this view as presented here. Plus, they are not as fussy about such things as the alligators who can be tough to please.

so cool that you had the bright background for part of the shot… really sets the bird off!

I was happy with that background too. Better then the usual open blue sky (or worse, grey sky) I get more often.

Beautifiul streamlined flight. I love the colors that the light accentuates on his back! Every detail shows. Great focused expression. I wouldn’t want to be his snack!

I wouldn’t want to be a fish and have that thing looking down at me as it’s coming to catch and eat me! 😮
There were nice colors that day.

Great focus, Phil – both the intensity of the Osprey’s stare and your lens-work!

You’re welcome! They’re spectacular birds. Granted, they’re no Great Blue Herons, of course, but up there in the top five birds for me,
