Evening’s End…
As the day winds down and night approaches, a lone alligator stands watch in the marsh as the low setting sunlight casts a purple hue on the water.
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
Scary, really scary…Great photo.
Oh he’s a real fun guy Charlie! 🙂
Bellissima foto, bellissima.
Ciao Pat
Grazie mille Pat!
Fabulous image, Phil. I can feel the eeriness. 😯
It was very dark out there by then too. They can be even more sneaky at night. Eek!
This guy is looking very cagey indeed…
Sometimes they look like they are not paying attention, and at times like this they appear to be up to something. 🙂
I got my first wild gator picture recently 😀 http://alexandthealpacas.com/2014/10/10/visit-to-tampa/ I actually thought of your blog whilst I was at Lettuce Lake and I was telling my American friends about your amazing alligator photography (especially the shot of the gator that caught a ray!)
Glad you saw the gator Alex! I appreciate your kind comments about my photos! 🙂
Great shot, I never knew they sleep like that!!! Nature is really something beautiful. Thanks Phil.
I’m not sure this guy was quite ready for bed yet, they can get a bit sneaky at night. 🙂
Such stillness…beautiful.
Glad you liked seeing the alligator Pat!
The perfect end to the day.
It was getting quite dark out there too so I figured it would be best to leave this guy and his friends alone and let them do whatever it is they do at night that I don’t need to know about.
Something totally fascinating about this picture Phil! I don’t know whether it is the incredible colour, the stillness or what it is – it’s brilliant!
I’m very happy to hear you say that Maggie, I kind of felt the same way about it. I normally try to present some sort of action and this guy is just laying low but yet there was something about it… 🙂
This guy looks like he might be watching something. I’d be careful around him. Beautiful light!
I definitely had the feeling this guy was up to something. Maybe my imagination but… ya never know…
