Oops…
An egret fishing in the salt marsh this afternoon lets one slip away. The bird was so shocked he lost his fish that he just stood there afterwards with a confused look on his face while the lucky fish swam off!

What actually happened was that I saw the egret come up with a fish and banged off just this one shot as somebody behind me called out my name and I turned around. When I turned back the egret was just staring down into the water and at first I thought he must have eaten the fish until I saw this photo. The egret did have a funny look on his face so I suspected something odd happened. Too funny, 🙂

I think the egret was shocked he lost that fish. It is a lucky fish though and he has a whopper to tell his friends now!
