A Little Night Fishing
Although it was close to sunset, this young tricolored heron remained alert in the marsh one day last week.
It often pays to keep your eyes open out there even as it begins to get dark. You never know when an evening meal opportunity will present itself.

These are pretty much straight out of the camera. I used a manual exposure, exposing (actually under exposing a bit) for the bird and letting the background, which is the water, go dark. The available low angle warm setting sunlight was hitting the bird just right to give it a little glow. Thanks much for looking and commenting Victor!

Sometimes things just work out with the birds and the light. This image of an adult tricolored from last month was a similar situation and nearby where these shots were taken.

It was so dark, how did you get this to show so well? The water is like glass – I do like the little tri-coloreds. You really captured his “looking” and watching. Beautfiul little guy.

This is a young Tri and they are even more pretty then the adult I feel. Fun birds to watch too!
