“Where Did Everybody Go?!?”
This ibis was among a small group fishing in the salt marsh when he suddenly looked up and realized he was alone. He hadn’t noticed that all his friends took off without saying anything.
So our lone ibis threw up his wings in surprise, took a bewildering look around, and jumped off to go look for his friends that had abandoned him.

He really does. And that’s so often the way it happens too… a bird is so focused on finding food it doesn’t realize it got left behind until way after it happened.

Gorgeous shots of a wonderfully expressive bird. I love those eyes–their color is somewhat startling.
Once they are full grown adults they develop that striking blue eye. Goes great with the red/orange bill! 🙂
