I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
We had two great egrets fishing in the marsh this afternoon and they both decided it was time to leave, one right after the other.
Must be headed our way! 😀 Beautiful flight photos. Up here they do a lot of standing around.
Ours do their share of standing around too. But… I was watching one waiting for it to take off when another showed up and they got in a huge fight right in front of me.
Absolutely stunning pictures!
Hey thanks a bunch, glad you like them!
As a nature photographer I envy you have all of this nature in your back yard. I enjoy every time I can come your way to shoot. Keep up the good work and feel blessed every time you pick up your camera. I feel blessed when I get the chance to capture a good shot at Mother Nature at her finest.
Happy shooting. You can see my work at http://miraclephotography.smugmug.com
Thank you Robert I greatly appreciate your very kind comments.
Checked out your site, many excellent photos!
Love, love…. this two shots! Wow!!!
Thanks very much Amy, glad you liked the egret flights!
Stunning capture of their wingspan!!
Thank you, they sure do have some good size wings!
What a gorgeous wingspan! What stunning images….
I tend to forget how big those wings really are. When one flies by close I can hear them.
Scatti molto belli del volo. Splendidi!!
Sono così felice che tu come le foto di volo! Grazie Pat!
Wow! Ballet in the sky.
Hey good description! Thanks Victor!
Great take-offs, Phil. 🙂
They are experts at the dramatic take off.
Both are great captures, Phil, but imo with the position/posture of the bird as well as the light, the second image is outstanding! Fabulous!
That second one is a wing position not often captured by me, glad you liked it!
So stunning. Jut love the first image so much. Very strong
I’m thrilled you enjoyed seeing the egret lift offs! Thanks
What a beauty! Very nice picture with the black background that puts all the focus on the egret.
Thanks very much, I expose for the white bird letting the background go dark.
The high contrast with the bright white bird and dark background is stunning. I know you don’t usually put these in B&W, but that would be striking.
Oh wow, B&W is a good idea, I will definitely keep that in mind for something to try. Thanks for looking.
You always manage to get such stunning pictures of these egrets in flight, Phil! I love the curves, the movement, and the dark background.
Although I sometimes overlook the egrets, they are pretty and rather elegant birds.
That first shot is pure ballet! Beautiful as ever, Phil!
Thanks so much Maggie! It’s nice when the bird cooperates and flies at an opportune time.
So magnificent – the birds and the photos!
I’m so happy you enjoyed these thank you!
