Well At Least He Took Care Of ‘Business’ First
Earlier this week I saw an osprey approaching from out over the salt marsh. He was flying fairly straight until I noticed a sort of brief pause and it seemed like he pulled up for a second.
Quickly I realized he was doing a mid air lightening of the load. But I’m happy the osprey did that prior to flying directly over my head which is just what he did seconds later!
That first image is exactly why I never let my jaw hang while looking up at birds.
That’s exactly right Steve!
Yep, there’s a good reason for the saying “don’t look up” when birds are overhead. Great shot, Phil!!
Especially when a group is flying right over me I always say… Please don’t poop now. Please don’t poop now. 🙂
Anche a te è capitato lo scarico del carburante ahahaha.
Splendidi scatti. Ciao, Pat
Sono contento l’uccello non scaricare su di me. 😀
ahahah 😀
Timing IS everything!
You are right about that! 😀
Just as well he emptied out before flying over you. Great shots.
I was pleased with how ‘things went’. 🙂
Isn’t that part of the “initiation” of being a Birder?! Great photos, Mr. Phil!
I know, but I would be more than happy to skip that part. 😀
I was returning to Clemson years ago and noticed a large bird flying high over the highway. Suddenly, it did the same thing and I watched in horror as the “string” came right at me and hit the middle of the windshield. Trust me, you do not want to have one bomb you.
That happened to my wife while driving her friends car only worse… It came in through the sun roof! Yikes!
Nice bit of ‘air’ art! Lucky he wasn’t aiming at you!! ;o)
Air art. Good one, I like that!
Now that’s an action shot! Too funny.
Just glad the action happened before he flew right over me. 🙂
Great captues again, Phil. It was certainly your lucky day. “May the Bluebird of happiness follow you around all day…..just not directly over your head.” 😆
It certainly could have gone a lot worse for me, and I never wear a hat out there. 😮
HAHAHAHA! That is hilarious. You are so lucky to not only capture that photo, but more importantly that you didn’t get splattered!
I have been lucky (so far) I have never been totally ‘blessed’ with a gift from above. 🙂
Impressive!!
What would have been really impressive was if the osprey targeted a person that was bothering the alligators (or me).
Yep. Utterly hilarious! You truly lucked out on this one. That looked like quite an impressive dump.
He must have been holding it, looked like a two dayer. 😀
Wonderful! Thom.
Thanks very much for looking and commenting I appreciate it!
A pleasure.
Great get.
Thanks much, glad you enjoyed these osprey shots.
You were very fortunate, not getting a surprise shower and also getting some great photos.
I could easily live without getting that shower. 🙂
Whew, close call! 😉
I know! I got lucky.
We have a saying here in the uk – If a seagull poops on your head, it is good luck. Not so sure about an osprey, though!
I’ve heard that here in the states as well. I think somebody just made that up to make themselves feel better about getting pooped on. 😉 It is a heck of a mess.
Ha, ha. Having been “hit” before, definitely something to stay away from. I LOVE that last capture. Amazing shot, and the detail and patterning underwing is fabulous.
Well it does happen. Not pleasant though. At least if I get hit by a gull on the beach I can go wash off in the ocean.
Glad you liked these shots.
Now, how many photographers would have caught that shot? And, how many would publish it to their blog? 🙂
Heh heh, I don’t know, I did hesitate for a second before posting but then again it is part of nature. 😀
Looking through the comments, I’m pleased to note that you didn’t take this event personally in any way… RH
If he would have held up a couple seconds then purposely targeted me I just might have taken that personally.
The gull that aimed right for the sunroof on a car my wife was driving I think deserves some particular blame however. 🙂
Always keep your mouth closed when photographing birds overhead. 😉
