Great Blue Heron and Friend
A blue heron watches alertly as an alligator glides along slowly in the background at the salt marsh this evening.
The gator had no interest in the bird at all, he had fresh blue crab on his mind and we saw him catch and crunch down a tasty crab.
I never saw the heron catch a single fish, guess he was too busy keeping an eye on his alligator buddy.
A friend that requires some significant distance…Love the image.
Thanks Charlie. This heron was funny, he loudly complained a few times about the alligator’s presence but he never left the area.
The lighting and the composition of this are beautiful! Such a great shot of a favourite, Phil!
That late evening setting sunlight is my favorite when it hits the salt marsh just right.
Great shot. Funny to think that the hair and I is actually looking at the gator, more in our natural inclination would be to think of him as looking straight ahead. I love the yellow glow here!
