Addressing The Troops
We had a huge crowd of wood storks in the marsh pond yesterday morning. At one point an egret was parading back and forth in front the group as if it was inspecting the troops. Of course the wood storks, being a rather odd looking bunch, look about as much like an alien invasion as they do any sort of military troop. It is fun and interesting to see them all lined up like that though. 🙂
Sharp eyed observers may also spot one adult and two juvenile little blue herons in front of the assembly…

Wow, that’s a lot of storks. We don’t see them in big flocks like that here. Nice catch!
They have been hanging in big packs lately and their numbers seem to increase almost daily.

The egret looked a little confused and possibly intimidated, but he just went right on with his business as if he sees this every day.

Those wood storks ignored everything he said. They almost always ignore everybody. That’s how they are. 🙂

Well there were even more then are pictured here, couldn’t fit them all in the frame. But we sure have a lot in the area now. I seem them flying along over the highway all the time.

what a sight to behold – only time I have ever seen anything close to this was wild pink flamingoes in Cyprus and Swans on the Dorset Coast – wooof
Oh it was a sight alright. Those storks are not the most attractive looking animals on earth, no wonder the babies are always crying. 😉 🙂
