I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
This afternoon we had a couple of tricolored herons come flying into the salt marsh where they spent their time fishing for tiny minnows.
I always enjoy seeing these colorful and active birds as they endlessly dart about the area in search of a meal.
Enjoy your photography Phil, its tops!!
Thank you much Jim I appreciate that!
Really lovely, Phil. They look so graceful compared to the pelicans. 🙂
Oh I know! We had about ten pelicans out there as well and they were banging around and splashing so much the whole thing sounded like the local community pool. ☺
I love this heron and don’t see too many in my area. I keep looking though. I very much like your beautiful photos of it, especially the third one down.
Thanks Donna, we had three out there yesterday which was nice but even though they sort of hung around together they still snapped and squawked at each other. Funny birds. 😃
They are like tiny, more delicate version of the Great Blue. We don’t see many (any?) around here either.
They are like smaller great blues and people here often mistake them for that. Soon, some of these guys will be in breeding colors and get a bright royal blue bill.
Colours are so nice but more than this, his standing with his wings and your photography are amazing. Fascinated me again. Thank you dear Phil, love, nia
Thank you very much Nia I’m so happy you enjoyed seeing this fun bird!
Fabulous pictures of this favourite, especially the 3rd! I really envy you, having these beautiful, beautiful little birds visit!
Alyce kept saying the third one was her favorite too. I almost didn’t use it but glad I did. Thanks Maggie!
So beautiful, and yes, especially the third one, reminds me of a beautiful painting or inscription on a coin…all are great, thanks Phil
I’m very happy you enjoyed seeing the colorful Tri Linda, thanks!

Stunning captures. The second to last photo is amazing. Love it.
Bellissimo e che eleganza!!
Wonderful shots of these energetic little guys!
They are fun birds, not quite as hyper as the snowys but close! 😃
Wow! You caught some very graceful poses.
I’m happy you enjoyed seeing the Tri!
Thanks so much Dawn, glad you liked the Tri!
