I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
We had two great egrets fishing in the marsh this afternoon and they both decided it was time to leave, one right after the other.

Must be headed our way! 😀 Beautiful flight photos. Up here they do a lot of standing around.

Ours do their share of standing around too. But… I was watching one waiting for it to take off when another showed up and they got in a huge fight right in front of me.

As a nature photographer I envy you have all of this nature in your back yard. I enjoy every time I can come your way to shoot. Keep up the good work and feel blessed every time you pick up your camera. I feel blessed when I get the chance to capture a good shot at Mother Nature at her finest.

I tend to forget how big those wings really are. When one flies by close I can hear them.

Both are great captures, Phil, but imo with the position/posture of the bird as well as the light, the second image is outstanding! Fabulous!

That second one is a wing position not often captured by me, glad you liked it!

What a beauty! Very nice picture with the black background that puts all the focus on the egret.

Thanks very much, I expose for the white bird letting the background go dark.

The high contrast with the bright white bird and dark background is stunning. I know you don’t usually put these in B&W, but that would be striking.

Oh wow, B&W is a good idea, I will definitely keep that in mind for something to try. Thanks for looking.

You always manage to get such stunning pictures of these egrets in flight, Phil! I love the curves, the movement, and the dark background.

Although I sometimes overlook the egrets, they are pretty and rather elegant birds.
