Little Mister Cool
Yesterday afternoon just as I was about to leave the marsh area, I spotted this young alligator hanging out along the edge of the water trying his best to look casual and cool.
He found a nice comfy spot amid the tall green grass to relax and also a perfect place to rest his chin. I think this little guy has the right idea!
Great photo – he is still very alert though – those eyes are watching you.
He is also alert and watching out for any of the big guys that might come around. He’s in the kid’s section. 🙂
Molto furbo il piccolo, ha già capito molto sul vivere bene 🙂
Bella la foto, complimenti Phil.
Ciao, Pat
Lui è un ragazzo poco intelligente. 🙂
It looks like it “has your number.”
No he likes me. Well I think he likes me. 🙂
Can you tell a male from a female?
No way to tell by looking. In fact if I dragged one up out of the water and flipped it over, I couldn’t tell.
I generally just give precedence to the male pronoun when describing the various wildlife for convenience.
Do you have any pictures of little young ones? I got pictures of a bunch of little ones at Okefenokee about 40 years ago. The mom had here hands full. We were on the platform of a observation tower. They were so cute!
Here’s a couple previous posts showing the little guys. They are cute.

There also are some in the alligator gallery but they may be the same ones from the posts.

Thanks so much. You’ve had the most amazing encounters, resulting in the best of pictures!!!
Thanks for checking them out and glad you liked the pics!
He looks cool enough but those eyes are so alert! Self-preservation starts young in his world!
He lives mostly with his little friends in an area we call ‘baby cove’ which is a small quiet corner of the marsh pond. Occasionally one of the big guys will come steaming in like a battleship and the smaller ones need to make themselves scarce.
